How can I befriend an Ivy league alumni?

I want to apply to Yale University but some advice Ive gotten claims, that if an Ivy League Alumni speaks highly of you, you’ll have a better acceptance chance. How can I get a Alumni to actually take the time to talk to me?

I wouldn’t believe everything you read. Getting into an Ivy league university relies on your academics, extra activities, leadership capabilities, volunteer work, and recommendations. While it can’t hurt to know people in the university, YOU have to sell yourself to the admissions counselors. After all, you know your abilities the best.

Sign up for an interview with an alumnus. Though this "interview" is more of a chance for you to ask questions about the school, not really for the alumnus to get to know you.
